BRC Overview

Bethel Repertory Company (aka: BRC) was founded in 2003 with a mission to “glorify God through artistic expression.”

With humble beginnings we started performing our first show on the tiny stage at the old building on O’Brien.

Right from the beginning we have had representation from dozens of schools and local churches,

and regularly brought our shows to several local nursing homes.

We quickly outgrew Bethel’s stage and for a couple years we moved to Widdifield Secondary School’s theatre,

while continuing to hold rehearsals in the basement of the old chapel - with the ceilings too low to fit our props and backdrops,

and a giant pole in the middle of the room that we’d have to dodge during choreography!

By 2007 we transitioned to Nipissing University’s theatre where we performed a musical every spring,

in addition to special music at Christmas and Easter. We continued to grow and our shows became more complex,

bigger and better. Our cast grew and changed, our sets and props, costumes, and special effects became more sophisticated.

Between 2003-2019 we performed 20 shows (plus seasonal choir performances) until 2020,

when our ministry got mostly shut down for 3 years.

We came back in the Fall of 2022, starting from scratch with almost all new cast and crew,

performing our first show in the spring of 2023, returning to Barclay House, Cassellholme,

The Empire, and going to Marina Point for the first time!

2024-2025

This year's cast and crew of BRC has been hard at work on this year’s show since September.

We took time off the show in November and December to do a Christmas tour of some local nursing homes, including Cassellholme, The Empire, Marina Point, and Barclay House - as well as performing in the annual Coffeehouse Singalong.

(See pictures below)

This year’s show is a double feature of Kids Praise 3 (Funtastic Family) and Kids Praise 6 (Heart to Change the World) with an overarching theme of learning about God’s “big family” - The Body of Christ - and how to have a heart for people, both locally and around the world.

We’ve got a very young cast this year, with many brand-new performers, so it has been an interesting challenge having to start from the basics, but they are keen and engaged. And having a new core group that we can mold into a super strong cast for many years into the future is an exciting position to be in.

For a ministry that’s ultimately “in the spotlight” we do tend to be invisible throughout most of the year, so please keep us in your prayers over the next couple months as we finish up the show and get it ready to debut in May!
