The mission of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but they also hear a presentation of the 'Greatest Gift of All' when they receive their shoebox gift. There is also a 12-lesson follow up discipleship program offered at the shoebox distribution events, called "The Greatest Journey," which many of the children undertake. Through OCC, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. The Church partners established through OCC also provide an integral communications network for other Samaritan's Purse humanitarian / emergency response efforts.

Bethel Gospel Chapel has been a long time supporter of and participant in Operation Christmas Child, having put together thousands of shoebox gifts ("gospel opportunities") over the years. Bethel is currently the Central Drop Off area for North Bay and surrounding areas during National Collection Week, which always runs the third week in November. Drop off dates and times will be made available closer to Collection Week.
